The set of The Rallyes Show, the podcast of The Rallyes in Dubai

The Rallyes Show is the house's media and podcast. It shines a light on the circle's success stories: the path, the turning points, the lessons, told first-hand. Its first guest is Wesley Ngo Baheng, former professional footballer, Head of Player Care at Rimal Al Sahra and founder of La Causerie Le Club, the business and mutual-aid network for footballers building their next career. He was among the first guests of Rally 001.

For forty-nine minutes, in French, Wesley talks with Wissam Serdoun about the price you put on your time, the school of life, leaving comfort behind, and a definition of success he says he has not reached yet.

From Le Blanc-Mesnil to Dubai

Wesley left Le Blanc-Mesnil at ten and a half for the academy of Le Havre, and signed his first professional contract at seventeen and a half. After football, he taught in a vocational high school, launched his own companies, then left that comfort for Dubai, accepting a modest salary in exchange for a visa, a new start and a network to build. He is now in his second year in the city.

“People only look at the zeros on the salary. You have to look at the whole package.”

Wesley Ngo Baheng, translated from French

Six ideas from the episode

  • Putting a price on your time is a matter of self-confidence: when you do not trust yourself, you struggle to price what you do.
  • The school of life is worth a diploma, provided you learn its lessons. “The best school is the school of life.”
  • One decision can change a life, and it is worth living up to.
  • Going all the way is his definition of success, together with peace: “My biggest fight is finding peace.” Not yet, he says.
  • Your network is your wealth. With the right people around it, “the baby walks on its own.”
  • Create value first: “Create value, create value, and you will see things come to you.”

“The train does not come by thirty times. There is nothing worse than living with regrets.”

Wesley Ngo Baheng, translated from French
