The business of human performance: Allaoua Gaham, Chief Wellness Officer in Dubai
Wellbeing expert, yoga master and the first Chief Wellness Officer of Citi Developers in Dubai, Allaoua Gaham on why sustainable performance starts with wellbeing.

For decades, corporate leadership tables have been defined by familiar titles: chief executive, chief financial, chief operating, chief marketing officer. At Citi Developers, a Dubai-headquartered real estate developer, another seat has been added. The company has appointed Allaoua Gaham as its first Chief Wellness Officer, bringing wellbeing into its leadership at a time when wellness is increasingly tied to corporate culture, human performance and the future of real estate. He was in the room at Rally 001, the first evening of The Rallyes.
His work has long rested on one idea: sustainable performance cannot be separated from physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. A wellbeing expert, yoga master, author and speaker, he has worked with business leaders, organisations and international athletes. The appointment gives that philosophy an institutional platform.
The business of human performance
He arrives with an unconventional background. Before establishing himself in wellness, he spent years in the corporate and entrepreneurial world, which gave him exposure to two environments usually treated apart: the demands of business performance, and the disciplines required to sustain human performance.
Today his work combines movement, mindfulness, emotional awareness, resilience and personal performance, within a framework built around physical, mental, emotional, energetic and spiritual wellbeing. It challenges one assumption of high-performance culture: that performance is mainly about doing more. Instead, it looks at the conditions that let people perform consistently: how they move, recover, manage stress, regulate emotions, keep clarity and grow more aware of themselves.
“Every inhale is a blessing, every exhale is a healing.”
The question is no longer how much performance an organisation can extract from its people. It is how long that performance can be sustained.
From corporate wellness to strategy
Wellness has traditionally lived at the edge of corporate strategy: an HR initiative, an annual wellness day, a gym membership. His mandate is expected to reach both leadership and employees, building healthier habits, greater awareness and a stronger culture of wellbeing. Instead of asking how wellness can support the company, the question becomes how wellbeing can be part of the way it operates.
A different definition of quality
It also meets a wider shift in the property world, where the high end is moving beyond materials and square metres toward experiences that shape how residents feel and live: better sleep, lower stress, movement, nature, privacy, emotional balance. The building becomes only part of the product; the life lived inside it becomes the other.
For years, developers have asked how people should live. The next generation of real estate may need to ask a more human question: how should people feel when they live there? For Allaoua Gaham, the answer may not be another amenity. It may be wellbeing itself.
